Itineraries & When to Go

Lumpini Park can be explored in visits from 30 minutes to a half day. Six timed itineraries cover a sunrise run on the 2.5 km track, a first-timer tour of the statue and swan boats, a family circuit with playgrounds, a golden-hour photography walk, a free evening concert plan, and a rainy-season backup plan, each with an entry gate, step-by-step timings, and what to bring.

When to Go

Lumpini is open daily from 04:30 AM to 10:00 PM. What you plan to do decides when you should come.

FAQ: Itineraries & When to Go

How to plan your visit and what to bring.

How much time should I spend at Lumpini Park?

The itineraries on this page take 2 to 7 hours. A single activity such as a run or a photography walk fits into 2 to 2.5 hours. Combining several things (statue, lizards, library, swan boat, lunch) takes about 4.5 hours.

What is the best time of day to visit?

Early morning (04:30 AM–8:00 AM) is one of the best times to see the monitor lizards and is popular with joggers. Late afternoon (4:00–6:00 PM) brings evening joggers and aerobics from 5:00 PM on weekends or 6:00 PM on weekdays. Cycling is allowed only from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM.

Do I need to book anything in advance?

The park, the library, the aerobics classes and the Concert in the Park are all free. The thing to check is the concert season (last season: Sundays from 11 January to 1 March 2026 (33rd season)).

What should I bring for a morning visit?

Sun hat, water bottle, and money for food. If you plan to run, bring a change of shirt and a small towel.

Is Lumpini Park good for families with kids?

Yes. There are two playgrounds (a main one on the south side and a community playground in the northern half of the park), swan boats, and a children's and youth zone in the library. The Family Morning itinerary on this page is built around under-12s.

What if it rains?

In the rainy season (mid-May to mid-October), rain usually reaches Bangkok in the late afternoon or evening, sometimes from 3 PM. If it arrives, head to the library (closed on Mondays) or cross Wireless Road from Gate 2 to One Bangkok, whose Parade mall is open 10 AM–10 PM. See the Rainy Season Backup itinerary on this page.
